History

Gianni Righi is the descendant of a family of Italian immigrants who arrived in the Alto Valle of the Argentine Patagonia in 1948, leaving behind a Europe devastated by the Second World War.

At the same time, as the Alto Valle area had a rhythm of growth marked mainly by fruit growing, part of the family would dedicate itself to the production of apples, pears and grapes.

It is from this family history that Gianni Righi has developed new ventures incorporating the production of nuts and dried fruits as a diversification strategy.

The establishment “Frutos Alta Patagonia” is located in General Roca, in one of the most important and favourable regions for the cultivation, since the fruit in general, being produced in a cold zone, generates a differential product by enhancing its natural characteristics.

The farm has a drip irrigation system and frost protection, with precision technology. Investment has also been made in a processing plant with washing, drying, calibration and packaging of walnuts, which makes it possible to market a product of excellent presentation and quality.
The incorporation of this technology will further expand the production and processing capacity of walnuts per season, increasing export levels, which will mean more work and resources for the region.

The development of this new business area was achieved through hard work and was based on a long-term strategy.

Today we are excited to announce that a group of nut producers from the Alto Valle have joined together to export 100 tonnes of in-shell walnuts to Italy and Portugal.
